Shreena Soomarah
Biography
- Writer, Flisolo.com. I'm here to share those little-known gems of wisdom for student life and beyond!
Studying Cultural Studies allowed me to explore my three main loves - art, culture, and the written word. I became heavily involved in the subcultural scene there, moonlighting as a DJ for a year or so. My social network developed globally as an offshoot of my love of travel, and to keep in touch I started blogging on various websites.
While I was looking for a “real job”, either during school holidays or once I’d left uni, I found myself naturally returning to my keyboard or notepad at the end of the day, and ended up deciding to focus on it as a career. Since graduation, I’ve been working as a freelance writer (amongst other things!) focusing mainly on the Arts and New Media.
My day job is in Broadcast PR, which allows me to build my written portfolio, and networking with artists across the world. I like to channel my OCD tendencies by organising “meet-up” events for the forum echoingthesound.org, and liaising with various subcultural communities across the UK.
