Co- Founder and CEO of Flying Solo Ltd. After a few years in banking and finance and various tech business ventures I have seen the light - its all about information networks.

The government has set itself the target of getting 50% of young people into further education, a target it is still some way short of. At the same time, unsurprisingly, these students and prospective students, and/or their parents, are being expected to foot the bill for this. We are moving towards an American model of financing higher education in the UK with all that entails.

Flying Solo was founded to provide an independent souce of information for students (and their parents). We aim to provide answers on everything from trivial questions such as getting good value for a night out through to much bigger issues such as whether the course you want to study, or the university you like the look of, is right for you. We aim to do this with a range of content drawn from professional writers, experts and most importantly current and recent students.

Ultimately whether any university or subject will be the right choice is going to depend on how much effort you put into it and whether you take advantage of all the facilities that institution has to offer. Here again we aim to provide you with the help and guidance you need to make the best of what is on offer. flisolo.com has its light hearted side but, let's face it, its a big world out there and you want to make your mark in it. Interests and activities

I enjoy swimming, biking and running so unsurprisingly found myself doing triathlons. I have done all distances (including Ironman) but time pressures (and my right knee) have led to my backing off somewhat. Now it is mostly gym and the odd race. I have a geek side too with photography, computers, amateur radio and electronics on the list. I also enjoy theatre, film and the ballet.
