“I experienced life...”

In my experience university harbours an array of eccentric characters with whom we entrust our future. What are your experiences with lecturers? Have they inspired and motivated you or made you vow never to continue down the path of your degree?
“The people I was taught by made me strive to become a writer.. It wasn’t the conventional 'here’s a syllabus now let see how much you remember'. I had nothing but support from my lecturers who made me see my potential so I owe a debt of gratitude for that.”
“My life at uni would not been the same if wasn’t for this lecturer - she’s unlike any other. This woman would sell her soul to help you, her effort, her enthusiasm for her work, her job and us. I call her the ‘bubble lady’ as in every lecture she would link a message in though an anecdote that would leave you smiling and chuckling for days. She always loved to get involved, she showed us her personality. She is an astonishing and inspiring person that I will miss greatly."
University allows us to mix with people from all over the globe. Has this added to your university experience?
“What springs to mind is my introduction to Jägermeister by my new German friends. I’d challenged them to a drinking game which involved us and a litre bottle of the stuff, thinking it was just like the German equivalent of vodka and I’d be able to handle it. I was wrong. I managed two and a bit and conked out. They left me asleep on the kitchen bench and took photos. They never let it go throughout my entire stay at uni!”
What are your experiences of going out at uni? Any episodes you’d rather forget?
“I remember going out in these ridiculous, wedged shoes in order to impress my new friends. Within ten minutes of wearing them my feet were aching terribly and my toes bleeding. I decided alcohol was the answer and got on with the night. Upon leaving we went for kebabs etc and apparently I stood wailing in the middle of the pavement refusing to move any further. My now-housemate swapped her boots for my shoes in the middle of the street. I inevitably fell over and I seem to remember this random bloke getting involved in the operation (trying to hold me up I think) which after a considerable amount of time proved successful.”
