The Hub is so diverse it really does suit everyone. A reasonably priced bar gets even cheaper on certain nights, there are awesome chill out sofas at the back and a nice sized stage and dance floor. The staff are awesome and everyone always makes you feel welcome. There’s no dress code or clique you have to fit into, and they support local bands too. The place is small: if you see a band there, you are definitely going to get the chance to meet them after!

So many different acts have passed through Hub‘s doors and graced its stage; it has managed to drag huge acts from all over the world, and is the only place I know that tries to cover most genres. I myself have seen amazing Southern Rock bands such as The Dexateens from Alabama, and Akiakane, an all female Garage punk band from Japan. Bands I’d never heard of and thought I’d not like but went away being a fan! Some of the acts you might have heard of though include Elliot Minor and :example who have played their smallest shows this year there. Ginger, the vocalist of The Wildhearts, produced an amazing acoustic set recently;indie electro girls Robots In Disguise (The Mighty Boosh) were there not long ago, Power Metal band Panic Cell’s only shows outside the larger venues at Exeter University have been at Hub. All of Beardyman’s (British Beatbox Champion) shows have been at the venue, so have top Dubstep dj’s Skream and N-Type’s. Let alone a surprise show from The King Blues. The list is endless: Glasvegas, Yeasayer, Big D and the Kids Table, The Wedding Present, The Duke Spirit, Time Again, Holly Golightly, Dan Le Sac Vs Scoobious Pip, Jose Vanders, The Clik Clik, Them Is Me (formerly Reef), I could keep going but I wouldn’t be able to fit anything else in!

There are a number of themed nights at Hub .Get Punked! are the best punk nights in the area happening once or twice a month with bands like the Strawberry Blondes and Go Drowsy, The King Blues, The Luchagors (who are fronted by female WWE wrestling champion Lita) and Mike TV. Hub also has a great Christmas show with Streetlight Manifesto, Random Hand and Dan Potthurst. Or for the heavier side of things with This Is Our Escape putting on bands such as Malifaice and Raging Speedhorn. If you’re more of an arty type, you’d love the Umbrella Factory - a night of oh-so accessible avant-garde music, art, poetry, animation and film. For some of the best dance nights in the area I suggest Breaksphere one of the pioneering Dubstep nights in England or Get On It! for an amazing mash up of genres, not even Cyclone is to be missed with their mix of House music.

In summary, whatever night it is you’ll find a great night at Hub, listening to great music in the best atmosphere you’ll find in Exeter!
